Key West – The American Red Cross is continuing to recruit volunteers to be trained to respond the next time a disaster strikes. This free disaster volunteer training will qualify you to be a member of the local Disaster Action Team (DAT) or a member of the National Red Cross Disaster Response system.
The local DAT responds to all local residential fires and offers assistance to those affected, such as with the house fires that have occurred recently on Stock Island.
If you would like to be one of the local volunteers who could help the next time a disaster strikes, please sign up for the free disaster training being offered by the American Red Cross at the Key West office. Sign up for this training now so that you’ll be ready the next time your community needs you. Several of these courses are offered online, or as self-study.
Participants learn how to respond to both local and national disasters. Classes are repeated to accommodate volunteer schedules and volunteers are not required to take the entire series of classes.
